Does anyone know of a of a way to downgrade windows 7 enterprise to pro in order to take advantage of the 10 free upgrade. I have about 30 laptops left to get to 10 and there all enterprise but they were not supposed to be. Prior to me being at this company the old admin used enterprise when we did not even own keys for it. I want to fix this and then upgrade to Anyone know if this is possible without a clean install? Give that a try on one of the machines that you "care the least about". Back it up, or better yet take an image of it first in case it doesn't work.
The best way here is to do a clean install on one laptop to windows 7 pro, then if they are all the same make and model take an image using clonezilla, run the image to the other laptops and then change the required information such as license keys etc. Now run the windows 10 upgrade from a USB to upgrade all the machines, that is by far the fastest way I can think of without spending any money.
There's no direct upgrade or downgrade from Pro to Enterprise or Enterprise to Pro. You're looking at clean installs. However, if the machines have 7 or 8 Pro COAs, you can clean install 10 and use those keys.
Clonezilla gets into reimaging which is volume license territory. You'd only need one 10 VL, but it's still money. Windows 7 Enterprise is very specifically excluded from the free upgrade to Windows The license cannot be downgraded, even with SA.
Reinstalling an OEM version of 7 Pro just to upgrade to 10 Pro is probably more labor than it's worth unless you're talking about a handful of machines. Even then you need to take employee downtime into consideration. If you can swap a spare, it might be worth it.
If not, the lost productivity will cost more than a Windows 10 license. If so, fine, but statements like "there is not cost but labor" miss the actual cost of labor entirely.
Then first, they're not licensed. You will need to pay for licenses. Best of my knowledge there is no way around that for you. No Freebies! We own licences just pro licences not enterprise. We are trying to correct this will most likely have to do the fresh install of pro then upgrade to I would try using the media creation tool to make a win10Pro disk and go from there. DragonsRule This person is a verified professional. MS doesn't really sell stand alone licenses, so chances are you don't. And if you've already got an OEM license there may not be a reason to mess with the VL of 7 if you are just going to 10 anyway. Can't fix stoopid. It's nice to think that you do own licenses, and perhaps you very well do indeed. However, you do not own the licenses to operate your laptops with Enterprise.
That's from your own admission. Operating the OS without license is considered a no no, plain and simple. Call Microsoft directly, and give them your full name, address, phone number, email and any other information they ask. They will insure you get licensed right. Not hard to do at all. In fact, if you happen not to have the appropriate licenses for them, they will more than likely make an appearance in person, to expedite service for you.
They want their fair share and do make certain you are appropriately licensed. Then you may get the free windows 10 upgrade, if you're verified, validated and have all your ducks in a row, as you say.
Perhaps they are not legal I do not know , and now, essentially, you are asking MS to give you a free upgrade to currently unlicensed software. You need to first install your licensed software, for which you claim to have onto the laptops.
Enterprise editions pay for the luxury of upgrading to 10 for their usage, or pay just for W10 with their arraignment. But the fact you replaced the other guy, calls into question and may possibly answer as to why you replaced whom you did when getting your job to start with. If you're legit, don't fear Microsoft.
